You know that you need the right amount of minerals and vitamins to stay healthy. In todays world, this is usually achieved with supplements. However all supplements are not created equal and you could be missing out on nutrients that you think you’re getting. How do you know which supplement to buy? We’ll cover that here. Most people buy a multi-vitamin/mineral by going into a vitamin store and choosing one that has a 100% or more. But if this multi-vitamin is a pill, (even chelated) you’re getting less than 25% of what’s listed on the bottle. Shocking isn’t it? You thought that little multi was giving you all you needed. However, a with liquid ionic multi mineral/vitamin supplement, you are absorbing almost 100%, so you are actually getting what it says on the label. The difference is because a liquid ionic supplement is water based, and that’s very easy for your body to absorb. But wait, you’re probably saying, ‘aren’t fruits and vegetables better then supplements?? That’s true, but there’s a problem, and the problem isn’t your fault. The problem is that the food we eat no longer contains the nutrients is should and so as a result we actually dont get the necessary minerals even if we do eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Micronutrients are what vitamins and minerals are often called. Your body doesn’t have any micronutrients of its own and it can’t make any, so it relies on you to give it high quality food and supplements. A liquid ionic mineral supplement is the best way to get these critical nutrients However, as good as supplements are, let’s remember unprocessed foods are still the best way to get vitamins and minerals because of their complexity, high fiber content, and ability to strengthen our immune system. So who should take a mineral supplement? If you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, have a diet high in whole grains, lots of fish, and lean meats and if you do this every day you may not need a supplement. But if we are being honest, most of us dont eat right every day and so for most of us a mineral supplement is necessary. The following should definitely have liquid ionic mineral supplement. *Stay on a calorie restricted diet (under 1500 a day) *Are allergic to many foods *Have digestive problems, including ever had surgery in it *Don’t eat like you should *Eat vegetarian/vegan *Bleed heavily during ‘that time of the month’ *Are pregnant, could be pregnant or are breastfeeding *Started menopause *Take medications that interfere with the absorption of nutrients *Often get diarrhea When choosing any kind of supplement, always check the label to make sure you know what you’re getting. Also see if the dosing instructions are something you can live with on a regular basis. A liquid supplement will be absorbed much more readily by the body so you don’t need the huge amounts that you would with a compound or even chelated supplement. That’s why the best way to protect your health is by taking a liquid Ionic mineral supplement.

There are different types of diabetic diets. The diabetic patient should meet with a dietician to determine which type of diabetic diet will be best suited for the individual. Counting carbohydrates, often called counting carbs, is one form of diabetic diets. The dietician will instruct the diabetic patient on how to count carbs for diabetes and how the carbohydrates should be spread over the daily food consumption. A common form of the diabetic diet is an outline of daily meals and snacks and how many servings of which food groups should be consumed for each meal and snack. When making the diabetic diet for the patient, the dietician tailors the food guidelines to meet the needs of the patient. The dietician may make the diabetic diet a low-fat diet if the diabetic patient should lose weight to make the diabetes more manageable. One meat, one vegetable, and one bread can be a diabetic diet sample meal. The meals can vary as long as they contain the right servings of the right food groups for that meal. To meet the example diabetic diet sample guidelines, the diabetic patient can pick any meat, bread, and vegetable for that meal. A piece of fish, green beans, and a small dinner roll is one possibility. Another possible choice would be a salad with tuna and crackers. The diabetic patient has a multitude of options for a diabetic diet meal. Diabetic patients sometimes use food exchange lists to help them choose foods from the food groups as needed. The exchange list includes examples of servings for each of the food list. If a snack calls for a fruit and dairy serving, the diabetic patient can consult the food exchange list and choose any fruit serving and dairy serving from the list. Diabetic recipes can help the diabetic patient use a variety of foods to meet the diabetic diet guidelines. A variety of diabetic diet recipes can have the same food group servings. Therefore the diabetic patient can choose different ways to meet their diabetic diet requirements.

Symptoms of elevated blood sugar are very vital to know for anyone who is a risk for diabetes or diseases connected to blood glucose levels that are out of range. Read this article to learn five main signs of high blood glucose levels. While all of these symptoms collectively are not telltale signs of diabetes, they can alert you to a potential problem. Signs of high blood sugar 1) Fatigue Fatigue occurs once your the glucose in your body is not properly being converted to energy. The conclusion is that the loss of energy in your body makes you tired. 2) Increased urination When there is surplus blood glucose in the bloodstream, and the body cannot convert the blood sugar to energy, it is processed through the urinary tract. Increased urination can be a symptom of high blood sugar and is generally a result of the person consuming more fluids due to increased thirst. 3) Vaginal Yeast Infections (in women) Increased glucose levels additionally affects the urinary tract. Not merely is yeast infection a sign of high concentration of blood glucose, someone with high glucose levels in their body is also at danger for urinary tract infections, kidney infections, as well as kidney stones. 4) Increased Thirst This is due to the brain’s response to the surplus sugar. It reacts by making the body thirsty so that the bloodstream can be watered down, resulting in an attempt to lower the blood sugar concentration. 5) Blurred Vision Blurred vision as a result of increased glucose levels can lead to more serious diseases of the eye such as diabetic retinopathy which results from damage to the retinal blood vessels from prolonged periods of elevated blood sugar. Observe that these symptoms of high blood glucose may or may not occur in any combination. The root cause of these signs is that the extra glucose in the bloodstream has thickened, resulting in various organs responding to the excess sugar. Untreated elevated glucose levels (or hyperglycemia can result) can result in the hardening of the arteries due to the excess levels of glucose in the blood which causes destruction to vessels. The longer the signs of high blood sugar go unchecked, the more likely damage that is done to one’s organs (and body). The good news also is that if you are able to get your blood glucose levels under control, you may be able to reverse any adverse affects that prolonged periods of high blood sugar have had on your body.

Nutrition: Concepts and Controversies
Overall Rating:

Retail Price: $156.95
Amazon Price: $93.50
By Anastacia Sampson
Foods tend to be packaged with accompanying nutritional information stated on the packaging. It is highly probably that this is read and thought to not have room for alteration. Yet there are many factors which determine anyones true gains of nutrients.

Recognise that farming conditions can alter a plants level of nutrients! A seasons harvest can have different nutritional levels to another seasons harvest. While we receive our nutrients from plants or other foods, all foods receive their nutrients from the soil or sea; which receive their nutrients from rocks. There is more to a rock or stone than meets the eye, as these hold nutrients! By the processes of erosion there is minute chipping away to permit release of nutrients. The released nutrients can then be taken up by the surrounding sea or ground.

If you have a garden it would be helpful to have stones around, as they certainly have their place. It is through planting and taking many times that depletes our soils. We need to give back. The plant can not demand to have a certain level of nutrients because the packet or box said it will have it! Plants only take what is available.

Climates affect plants and when growing in different climates the same type of plants have different nutrient content. Needs alter according to where we live and the climate affects nutritional needs. Note when you read the nutritional information of two similar foods, as information on various brands can be provided by different sources. On any day if we all ate exactly the same level of nutrients, our absorption tends to differ. Stress tends to lower rates of nutrient absorption and retention of nutrients.

Health professionals aid us as individuals to asses whether or not we are receiving levels of nutrients to match our requirements. By having nutritional charts we manage to benefit anyone to be generally healthy! Nutritional charts are great but recognise the individuality factor! No use to delude ourselves to believe we are all identical as our bodies do not absorb the same percentage of any given food or nutrient. It is recognised that we absorb more if we need it, yet other factors disrupt this; such as alcoholism, certain drugs and digestive-related disruptions.

Nutritional guidelines can sway choices along a healthy way. Do not worry about the extra calorie to the detriment of better mineral levels in foods. Watch of calorie content should not accompany dismissal of the levels of minerals and vitamins. Use whole foods to be on a more nutritious path to lead to health. Indeed a little of nutritious fatty nuts may support some people to lose weight, as we need minerals and vitamins to actually burn calories. We will always need minerals and vitamins; have a balanced view and intake of nutrients.

Keeping yourself and your family eating healthier is no easy task. There are many ways that you can transform your recipes into healthy ones. The first rule in preparing healthy dishes is in using healthy ingredients. You cannot prepare healthy recipes without using healthy ingredients. To ensure that you are choosing the right ingredients, make a list of what you will need before heading off to the grocery store. Second, you need to understand the importance of timing. If you find that you have time on your hands, then you can prepare some healthy meals ahead of time. You can cook recipes up ahead of time and freeze them for later use. If you find that you are running short on cooking time, these frozen meals will come in very handy. Use these frozen meals when you need to cook quickly. Forget the fast food and just heat up one of your healthy meals. The third healthy tip is to always search for fresh ingredients. If you are preparing soup for instance, try to find fresh produce. Use fresh herbs and spices and the freshest meats you can find. Fresh ingredients ensure that you are getting more health benefits in each bite. vegetables should be raw and fresh whenever possible. Cooking or canning vegetables strips away some of the nutrients. Tip number four concerns your choice of meats. While there are many healthier types of meats than beef or pork, this tip is related to the actual cut of the meat that you use in your recipes. You know, of course, that chicken and fish are much healthier. Sometimes it is simply not feasible to substitute lean meats for other choices. For those recipes, you should strive to find the leanest possible cut of the meat that you are using. It is important to understand that all cuts of beef are not the same. This could not be further from the truth. Many cuts of ground chuck contain less fat than ground beef. The amount of lean versus fat is listed on most meat packages. You can also get answers from those in the meat department. The fifth and final tip is to avoid creams and sauces that contain unhealthy ingredients. Check for substitution possibilities when creams, sauces and gravies are concerned. Learn what foods make good substitutes for unhealthy ingredients and use them.

Just planting over and over and taking from the ground does deplete our soils. We really need to give back. Packaged foods do not have a fixed set level of nutrients as the packet or box said it will have it! Remember that plants can only take what is available for them to feed upon and if they grow from nutrient poor soil they reflect that in their health. Plants growing in colder climates may have a higher level of certain nutrients in comparison to the same plant in warmer climates or vice versa. Our needs alter according to where we live and the climate affects nutritional needs. You may read the nutritional information of two similar foods but from different brands. Sometimes information on brands is derived from different sources. Then even if we all ate exactly the same level of nutrients our absorption tends to differ. A person who is stressed tends to have a lower rate of absorption of nutrients and they tend to retain fewer nutrients. This is why anyone should consult with a relevant health professional to asses whether or not their body is receiving the better levels of nutrients to match their needs. Nutritional charts are extremely helpful and essential to work out how to help anyone to be healthy. We have to realise that we can not be exact and bet on set nutrient levels with each batch of harvested food and our bodies do not absorb a fixed percentage. We generally absorb more if we need it but sometimes other factors disrupt this, such as alcoholism, certain drugs and digestive-related problems. One of the fitness gurus of both the old and modern times is Jack Lalanne. He’s going strong, even at the good old age of 93. Many people are envy of his fitness and lifestyle as he still remains physically and mentally fit. Many people have tried to copy his lifestyle and regimes but not quite reached the same success. Jack Lalanne is someone whom has been concerned about his fitness for many years. He sticks to his regime of working out for two hours every morning. He consumes high doses of vitamins and eats a diet that contains high levels of enzymes and nutrients. He is particularly against white sugar and feels everybody should give this up. He has also given up chicken and red meats and consumes more soya protein. Eggs account for most his daily intake of protein with some coming from fish. Fish is important as it is one of the best sources of high quality protein as well as essential fatty acids. Jack found that he was addicted to junk food and sugar at a very early age, but soon decided to give them up. He turned his energy to health clubs and onto dieting from about the age of fifteen. He does not feel these all low carbohydrate diets are beneficial although he does recommend including natural grains, such as brown rice and whole wheat, in your diet. Consuming fresh vegetables is advised as they are a rich source of vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium. Jack Lalanne’s diet includes consuming a minimum of ten raw and fresh vegetables each day. Jack has not eaten any deserts now for around seventy five years as they are high in sugar and calories. He advises gradually replacing all processed foods with more fish and raw vegetables and likewise consuming fruit juices rather than fizzy drinks and colas. All junk foods should be avoided and again replaced by health foods. Foods that contain high levels f fat and oil should be avoided as they are a common cause of obesity. Dairy products like butter and cheese are an example of this as they can lead to a build up of fatty tissue. Water is very healthy and it is advised to drink about six to seven glasses a day. As a testimony to his almost super human fitness, Jack has broken many records. If you decide to follow any of his plans you would be taking a step to feeling much healthier.

If you eat lots of sugar and you want to get rid of arm fat, you’re in for a very tough ride. Unfortunately, a high sugar intake will make your insulin levels sky rocket. And high insulin will block your body from burning arm fat.

But what if you aren’t sure about the first question? What if you don’t know whether or not you’re addicted? If so, please ask yourself the following questions:

1. Does it seem impossible to stop having sugar? Do you keep on consuming large amounts of sugar despite the best of efforts to stop? If so, you may be addicted. At this stage, it’s very common for the brain to have undergone some changes that make rejecting sugar extremely difficult.

2. Do you have symptoms of withdrawal whenever you don’t consume sugar? If you get headaches, bad moods or massive cravings that are vivid, then you are presenting symptoms of withdrawal.

3. Do you come up with elaborate reasons as to why you are NOT addicted? The creation of complex reasons as to why one is NOT addicted is a tell tale sign of addiction. The more elaborate your excuses, the more likely the addiction.

4. Are you able to ignore the serious consequences of high sugar consumption despite a health issue? If you have developed the ability to ignore the health issue despite your sugar intake, then you could be in denial-a dangerous place to be.

5. Do you use sugar to offset other negative areas of your life? Does the sugar make that bad relationship, the abuse or the negative emotions go away? If you are using sugar highs to offset other negative aspects of your existence, be careful.

Now, you may be doubtful that sugar addiction even exists. Keep in mind that studies done on rodents show that high intakes of sugar cause the exact same brain alterations that drugs cause. Furthermore, sugar acts as a powerful painkiller for infants undergoing surgery. Doctors, for instance, use sugar when performing circumcision to reduce crying time. Crazy, but true.

The key here is to do a truth-bearing self analysis. If you answered yes to any of the questions, then you must seriously consider the fact that you may be addicted to sugar. If you know you’re addicted, then you must seek professional help. There are many different methods of treatment for every type of person. So stop waiting and take action!

Visit a more sophisticated health nut’s home and you might notice a Jack Lalane juicer positioned on her kitchen counter. Using a juicer is a great way to get more raw veggies into your diet. When vegetables are raw, they contain more of the natural plant enzymes that have been proven to be so beneficial to you. Trying to consume enough of them every day can be a problem. Juicing is the best alternative. One glass each day is enough.

Stainless steel kitchen utensils are part of a healthy household. Why is stainless steel so much healthier? In short its because of plastic. By using stainless steel products in place of plastic ones, you can reduce the amount of chemicals that can slowly seep out of the plastic containers and into your food.

When deciding between glass and plastic choose glass. Glass doesn’t have the petroleum based properties that may allow some seepage of unwanted materials into your food. Glass containers are usually pretty smooth and easier to clean. So, food particles have a harder time sticking inside of glass containers as most of the other ones. Cleaner containers means less bacteria growing on the particles left behind after you wash them. Less germs means better health.

Food dehydrators are an appliance you will normally find in the kitchens of health minded people. Dehydrating allows you to preserve the nutrient rich foods that you love to snack on without cooking away all of the really beneficial enzymes of the food. If you have healthy things to snack on, it will be a lot easier to watch what you grab when hunger strikes. Why not make it easier to stick to a healthy lifestyle?

Water filtering is one of the simplest ways to upgrade the health of a kitchen. The popularity of water filtration has caused many companies to get into this market. That benefits all of us by driving the price of these products down due to competition. If you do some research online, you will see that there are a tremendous number of toxins that can be found in scary quantities in some water sources. It just makes sense to take one simple step in filtering the stuff that your body must have to live.

Look inside a healthy cook’s kitchen and you’ll always see an assortment cookbooks. In order to keep meals interesting, you need to try new recipes. Otherwise, you will get tired of eating the same old things. Spend a few bucks and get your family a few interesting healthy cookbooks.

A food processor can drastically reduce the time required to prepare certain types of food. If you are making lots of casseroles and soups, having an electric gadget to do some of the slicing will make meals a lot less of a chore to prepare. Buying one of these food processors is money well spent.

One of the biggest challenges in the business world is the successful operation of a restaurant. Unfortunately, the majority of these ventures fail before they get to be three years old. You will need a good variety of restaurant skills and you should strive to be a master at most, if not all of these. Don’t forget, the guests are looking for an entertaining and enjoyable dining experience and if they do not receive it they will not return. Without repeat guests, you face an uphill battle.

Be prepared and brush up on your restaurant skills before you consider taking the helm of a dining establishment. If you have little firsthand experience, you can turn to a variety of resources, including books and courses and a large number of online website and service providers. It is worth taking the time to learn these requisite skills diligently.

Finding and managing the best staff is one of the biggest challenges facing a restaurateur. You will find that the number of issues associated with staff management will really test your restaurant skills. Right from the start, make sure that you have the right people on board, with the correct mix of ability, personality and experience. When you have chosen your staff let them do their job and especially in the case of your management team, do not micromanage.

You must create a great environment within your restaurant and it should be visually stimulating and centered around your restaurants theme. You must also make this environment a good workplace, as the chances are that if your staff can come and go and perform the job successfully, they will be happy and motivated. Your staff can create a much-needed spark to boost your restaurant.

Set a course for success by providing the right amount of ongoing and dedicated training for your staff. This must be one of your top restaurant skills. After selecting the best personalities for each position, invest in the best quality training. Your staff should understand your vision, comprehend the restaurant themes and be fully aware of the various menu choices.

Books have been written about marketing plans and you must include this subject in your list of restaurant skills to develop. Whilst you may create a great-looking restaurant with the best staff and appetizing menus, all of this is no good without a proper marketing plan. Which healthy living tips are you following?

Illness and disease cannot invade the body when it is in a pH-balanced environment, and the immune system is strong. When body pH is acidic and your immune system weak, your body is more susceptible to illness or disease. There are other times when God permits sickness and disease to come our way, but many times it is a result of the bad choices (many in ignorance) we make.

Getting sick is not normal and can be avoided if you apply the following healthy living tips.

Clean out the Toxins in Your Body

Total body cleansing (which may include your colon, liver, kidney, and gallbladder) is essential to vibrant health. Our bodies need to properly eliminate the toxic build up that has formed in our intestines (colon), which may lead to sickness and disease. By being free of toxic build up our body organs and tissues can function optimally and also help our bodies to receive the essential nutrients our bodies need.

Abiding with Our Creator God

Many in their life pursuits do not realize that vibrant health, both physically and spiritually, is linked with a relationship with Jesus Christ. Ultimately, the most important step of becoming healthy is to establish our relationship with God who made us for His purposes. The truth is that we can eat organic whole foods, avoid harmful foods, practice good hygiene, cleanse body of toxins, and get proper exercise or rest, but if our “whole-self” is not where it needs to be with God, then we will never be completely healthy.

Hydrate Yourself with Filtered Water

Every function inside the body is regulated by and depends on water. While water is certainly not an absolute cure-all, we must recognize it as the primary ingredient to every preventive and healing process inside the body. Water must be available to carry vital elements, oxygen, hormones, and chemical messengers to all parts of the body. An increased intake of healthy water will greatly enhance digestion, nutrient absorption, skin hydration, detoxification and virtually every aspect of better health! So many common ailments and illnesses can be prevented and greatly reduced by an increased intake of healthy water. Headaches, hypertension, back pain, arthritis, ulcers, asthma, morning sickness, fatigue and metabolism can all benefit (and in many cases be prevented) by regulating the body’s natural fluid levels.

Healthy lifestyle choices will lead to consistent vitality. But to enjoy optimal health, knowing these healthy living tips is only a start. You must take responsibility for your own health and apply these tips before you start experiencing any symptoms. It may include many lifestyle changes, but I am sure you will agree, great health is always worth it!

Is there a cure for PCOS is a common question that people ask and the answer is Yes. Mix together three simple ingredients – good nutrition, regular physical exercise, and natural herbs and you will eliminate the signs and symptoms of PCOS and Ovarian Cysts.

Herbs in particular are extremely useful in the treatment of PCOS, because they are much gentler on the body, have fewer side effects than synthetic drugs and can be used for sustained periods of time.

Two powerful herbs that have been used for generations and shown very promising effects are:

1. Agnus Castus (Vitex/Chastetree Berry): This herb has a direct effect on the pituitary gland. This gland is involved in regulating hormone production and the menstrual cycle.

It is an adaptogen, which means that whether you suffer from a low level of one hormone or an excess of another, you can take Vitex and this herb will regulate the pituitary gland to achieve optimum levels of the hormone.

This herb is particularly useful to those with low levels of progesterone as it restores it to normal levels. Low progesterone levels can cause miscarriage, so vitex can help prevent this from happening.

Vitex has a few side effects that you need to be aware of, the most noticeable being digestive upsets and a mild rash

Vitex should be taken for a period of several months in order to help with the treatment for PCOS and ovarian cysts.

The typical recommended dose of Vitex is organic tincture is 1 teaspoon, 3 times a day for 3 or 4 months. This herb can be taken daily for up to 18 continuous months, unless pregnancy occurs.

Please consult your doctor if this is something that you think would help you.

2. Garcinia Cambogia (Also known as Brindall Berries)

This small tropical fruit is also known as Malabar tamarind. It comes from central Asia and contains HCA (hydroxyl-citric-acid). This Acid enables carbohydrate to be turned into useable energy instead of being deposited as fat.

This herb can also be used as part of the cure for PCOS because it helps to suppress appetite, reduce sugar cravings and insulin resistance, and inhibit the formation of fat and cholesterol.

This herb is readily available in capsule form and you should be able to get some from good health stores.

Bear in mind that our bodies react to different herbs in different ways and these two common herbs used in treating PCOS may not work well for you.

Many people want to enjoy the benefits that organic food provides however in these challenging economic times this can be very difficult.

So how is it possible to carry on eating organic food on a diet?

Well, the easiest and perhaps most practical solution is to grow your own at home.

Organic plants can be easily grown from seed using prepared compost and a little knowledge of how to keep pests under control without using chemicals.

Keeping chemicals away from your plants is a governing principal but natural control methods can work just as well.

A nice shortcut can be found in your local garden centre, you will probably find ready to buy organic seeds and compost on their shelves.

Pest control has a few organic options one of which is the use of soft soap to remove pests from your plants. This has no harmful chemicals that will affect your soil.

Remember that you do not have to turn your whole garden organic but can raise produce like tomatoes, strawberries, peppers and herbs in stand alone containers.

In this way you can achieve an easily controlled area of your garden which you can give special attention to.

For those people with limited space such as a balcony containers are a great way to get in on the organic food movement.

Budget Shopping For Organic Food

Look around your local area for a farm selling organic produce direct to the public.

Organic farming is gaining popularity and as demand for fresh produce grows more and more farmers are opening farm shops to sell directly to the public.

Buying your fruit and vegetables from local farmers is beneficial to both of you, farmers get to earn more profit than supermarkets will pay them and you get to sample fresh local produce and help your local farmers to survive.

If you want your children to have fun whilst eating then why not try a pick your own farm for selecting organic fruit?

All the fruit you pick is weighed and usually you will find that the price is very reasonable too.

Of course whilst you are at the farm why not see if they also sell other organic produce like meat and dairy. Last year I bought some wonderful honey at half the price I would have paid at my local store.

Perhaps you can get some organic eggs at a good price in volume while you are there, share them out with your family.

Hopefully this article has given you some ideas for eating organically on a budget, good food at a low cost.
