Very Basic

Didn't like the book, very basic for someone who has no idea how to eat right. The book based on the "Pyramid", it gives general ideas about the right food but does not specify how the same food affects if eaten at different times. Also the metabolic types described very primitive and vague. I wish there would be more useful information instead of just short articles that jump from topic to topic.
Awesome information!

This is a great book with loads of information...you read it and feel like you should know all this already but for some reason, you don't. This book is good if you are looking to lose weight, gain muscle, or just eat properly. You will greatly benefit if you are exercising and not seeing the results that you are expecting. As an extra, you get some recipes in the back of the book. I have this book with me in my car all the time so I can look up something really quick if I need to. Before this book, I read alot of books that basically catered to some supplement or some diet fad...this is the real deal. This book will not tell you not to eat sweets, it will tell you to have alot less of them...and increase your veggies and fruits and whole grains...stuff you should already know but stated in a concise, efficient way. If you are working out and feel you need the right dietary information, get this book. This book has got me looking into becoming a registered dietician, you know, those people you pay alot of money to tell you the same thing as this book!

Sound nutrition education

I was looking for a book that would teach me well grounded, scientific nutrition. The kind of book where I could learn what a nutritionist might learn in school. This book does just that. No fad stuff in here. She actually has a small section where she talks about the most common fad diets today, and points out their short comings(and even their strengths if they have any). I love how the book was organized to teach how to eat daily, before an event, during events, and after events. Some info on eating to lose weight, but this is not really a "diet" book, though I think even those looking to lose weight could benefit from this book. There is also info on how to gain weight if that is what you are looking for.
